Hi all, I'm after some advice. I'm on an up to 8mb DSL Max connection with BT, but my speed dropped recently. I now seem to be stuck on an IP profile of 135k. At the moment I am connected directly to the test socket via a BT i-plate. I've been doing a speed test using the BT speedtester and since fitting the i-plate my connection rate has improved, but not the IP profile. Is there anything I can do? Should I contact BT?
Here are my line stats

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 2,048

Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/MB]: 36.96 / 192.96

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 11.5 / 17.5

Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 28.5 / 55.0

SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 19.0 / 11.0

and here are some of the speedtest results -

BT broadband speed test carried out at 2130hrs 05 Aug 09 – Connected to master test socket.
Your configured download throughput speed for this service is 250 k
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.

According to the postcode and phone number checker BT say my connection is capable of up to 3mb.

Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/MB]: 36.96 / 192.96

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 11.5 / 17.5

Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 28.5 / 55.0 ========= 2 kilmeters from exchange

SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 19.0 / 11.0 ask bt to drop the noise margin

dslMAXshould be around 8128kbps IP Profile around the 7150

this from my hub
Downstream 7,520 Kbps
Noise margin (Down/Up) 6.3 dB / 21.0 dB
Line attenuation (Down/Up) 40.0 dB / 23.0 dB        2.9 kilmeters from the exchange
Output power (Down/Up) 19.8 dBm / 12.1 dBm

i had a problem with my bb found out that bt wholesale had put the noise up from 9 to 15db which droped the downstream to 5kbps i was not happy about this told them it was not like that the daybefore with in 24hr it droped to 6db sorted after that ip 6.5 and actral around 6kbps now

Hi covlad
quote found out that bt wholesale had put the noise up from 9 to 15db

Bt wholesale have nothimg to do with your noise margin . The Target SNR is set by negotiation between your Router and the DSLAM at the exchange . The following link has some very good information on SNR

what im saying is for over 2 months the noise margin was around 9 then after a call from bt wholesale called as i was out the misses told him what the problem was Downstream 7800 kbps ip was 4500 or some thing like that the noise margin was 9Db on the downstream and 24Db on the upstream.

when i came home she told me bt called so i checked the hub settings

downstream dropped to 5568 ? kbps the noise margin when up from 9Db to 15Db

i called bt as the fault i put in was crap ip profile on 7800 kbps i should be getting around 6500 ipprofile told them the noise margin had gone up after a phone call from bt wholesale told them drop the noise margin and it did to what im getting now

so i was thinking it was bt wholesale who messed up but it looks like i was wrong

line test on my line are clear no noise on line tests a new bt master socket every thing on my bb is working fine
