Linux DMT tool.
« on: July 06, 2009, 12:34:16 AM »

I have found this Linux DMT tool  :) But need some help installing it please

http://209.85.227.132/translate_c?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://www.spida.net/projects/software/dmt-ux/&prev=/search%3Fq%3Ddsl%2Bmodem%2Btool%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26rlz%3D1B2GGGL_enGB177&rurl=translate.google.com&usg=ALkJrhgV7nj0TYr_eklNcZu2MonNiQP9kA

I have downloaded the .tgz file, clicked on it and expanded it, but the 'read me' file is blank.  :'(

Has anyone got any idea how I can load it please.

There's something wrong with that archive, but I found that you do get the readme if you use the command line to expand it:

tar xvfz dmt-ux-0.178.tgz

I haven't had a chance to try it yet, but as far as I can see, it doesn't have tweaking capability. It simply displays information (which of course can still be very useful).

I tried that on my Linux, Mandriva, and it needed a whole load of dependencies. Dependency hell I think they call it.  :'( I gave up in the end.

I think I agree. I just had a go with it, but the compile error messages were quite obscure and I quickly decided that life is too short to spend any more time on it. DMT works quite well with Wine, although you do have to run it as root.
