When I wanted to record something a while ago I used WM recorder..  but the free version  was time limited to 30 days.

If youre wanting something that lasts longer than that try looking here.

Try the freeware section

hey thanks man.Gonna check them out, after all don't mind if it's freeware or not as long as it does a good job.
And I actually saw a couple of those that also do podcasts here

so this is even better than I was hoping.

Well, haven't had time to try many of the apps from the reviews. I just got round to a Radiotracker app, seems interesting. It has a large database of stations, this is definitely a plus.

Hi,
Assuming that you know the URL of the stream, try using mplayer:
mplayer -dumpstream URL -dumpfile filename

To dump streams run it from the command line (DOS prompt), or create a Windows .bat file.
e.g. To dump last Sunday night's Archers:
mplayer -dumpstream rtsp://rmv8.bbc.net.uk/radio4fmcoyopa/radio_4_fm_-_sunday_1000.ra -dumpfile SundayArchers.ra

Get it here: http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/dload.html
The Beebotron is an interesting resource to help you make use of mplayer - http://beebotron.org/index.php

mplayer is most at home on Linux, but there is a Windows version.
Last time I used it on Windows it didn't need to be "installed" - I just unpacked the files and ran the .exe.
So no messing up the registry.

Cheers,
Peter

Thanks, gonna take a look at it.Though I prefer to keep it simple.Just choose what I want and press record, besides I'm not that great with command lines and such things.I'm still trying that Radiotracker app.

I use this   :-

http://www.applian.com/asktoolbar/

Easy  Peasy  to use   ...and the tool bar can be removed (under View) when not required.  Excellent results !  :)   Works equally fine in IE and Fire Fox.
