Plusnet's Thomson T585 on postoffice
« on: February 12, 2011, 09:22:06 PM »

Hey,

I am new here and new to tech DIY as well.

I really want to use my old TG585 by plusnet with postoffice 'cause their zyxel router looks cheap chinese made and works like one as well.

I have resetted the box, gone through admin via ethernet and changed to my new WPA key, login and password. I've also tried to login with the new and old alphanumeric SSID, which I am not sure I am suppose to or not, in the home network page. But no luck.

Can anybody help me with the step by step guide.

Cheers

log into what, exactly?? in the adsl settings, you need your ISP logon details, i.e. yourphonenumber@talktalk.net and your password  in order for the router to authenticate with the tt adsl. The wifi settings are completely separate....

Thanks for your reply.

After logging in as admin, I went into configuration in the 'home network' tab and changed the new WPA given by post office which is my new ISP btw.

And also my new logon details which is xyz@mypostoffice.co.uk and password but it refuses to login and keep 'retrying'.

Btw, my new ISP is post office not TT.

Cheers

no need to change the WPA key, that's nowt to do with your ISP.

are you sure you're entering the ISP username/password in the ADSL setup (don't know what Thomson call it exactly) page of your router ?? should be similar details to these...

Thanks,

I changed the WPA as you have said and double checked the settings, its something like this in the setup menu with no success.

Cheers

Hi there,

Sorry for the late reply.

I tried but without success then I went into Zyxel setup and found out that they have a different login and password then what has been given out to me and when I used that then the thomson router kept going back to admin login and password screen but not accepting its own login password at all.

I checked the internet connection and I got something like this.............
