Where do you find the wireless MAC number on an Apple Mac laptop?
My sister in law wanted to logon via my wireless network and we could find no stickers on the laptop and didn't know where to look in the machine itself. I'm not familiar with Macs and she's an artist who hasn't a clue!

I'm not familiar with Macs either, but do you really need that information to make the connection? If the wireless interface is working, you should just need to configure it to suit the wireless network (i.e. SSID, encryption type and password).

My wireless router comes up with the MAC of whatever computer is trying to use the network but you don't know who it is until successfully logged on and then the security of the system would be compromised.
I prefer to only allow known users on the router so there is a list of trusted users and only those known to me can use the router. Therefore I need the MAC number to be able to verify who is trying to gain access before I allow them onto the trusted users list.

Oh I see. In that case, I'm not going to be any help. I don't know if there are any Mac users here.

I believe the equivalent of Windows ipconfig /all on the Mac is ifconfig
According to this:
http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/man8/ifconfig.8.html
ifconfig -a
is probably what you are looking for.

I find the student guide website at Washington University a very good simple manual for finding out how to do some of these things so I always keep it bookmarked. You can find it at
