Another quick query on this- After 20 odd days of connection, I had a RCD go today on the consmer unit knocking out my router, lights sockets etc. After i sorted it out and got my eleccy back on after a few hours, the hub again connected at exactly the same synch speed. I thought it was a bit random what you synched at? Previously its always varied. Any ideas ?

My guess is you just got lucky, and if you'd re-synced at a different time of the day or in different weather conditions it may have been less or more than what you're on now.

Nothing to worry about, you have a healthy MaxDSL line there with a good speed for the attenuation :)

I noticed a slight drop in speed today, so after checking the router I noticed a Loss of signal (still connected on the same IP which is strange?) and Id reysynched at about half a meg less. Did a rest and again Ive connected at the original 4640 kps! seems weird before BTW fiddled with my line Id synch at 5000k plus but now it seems to max at this 4640k... Not moaning I suppose at least its fairly stable now, just wondering what they did and why it connects at this same synch.

Oh and Ive discovered Im getting "shaped" between 6pm and midnight! My HTTP traffic peaks at 1 mbit while ftp reaches 3.6! cant wait to leave BT!

Router stats BTW-

Hi

From looking at your stats theres a very strong possibility there that the DLM system has increased your Target SNR  to 12dB. (default is 6dB) after the leccy problems.
This will help stabilise your line, but it also affects the maximum speed at which you can sync to the exchange at.

If your Target SNR was reduced back to say 9dB or 6dB, then you would very likely be able to sync higher, but you would likely see more disconnects and variable sync speeds.

Some routers allow you to set the Target SNR yourself and play with these figures using the DMT tool.
The HH is based around the Speedtouch 716G and for a while a lot of people used DMT..   However i think BT got wise to this, and they upgraded the firmware on the HH so DMT no longer worked. :/
iirc someone did find a way of rolling back the firmware, but I cant remember where I saw the instructions now.
