Back in work ATM so I thought I would just try the speedtest over at ADSl guide on the works connection to see  how it would come out...

Date 31/05/07 15:21:39
Speed Down 19599.89 Kbps ( 19.1 Mbps )
Speed Up 5383.25 Kbps ( 5.3 Mbps )

LOL what a contrast, some day we will have this speed at home  ;D

Possibly a leased line/ part of a WAN for a larger organisation.??
Although believe it or not some homes do have access to these kind of speeds here and now..  My friend who lives inside the  M25 circle and is reasonably close to the exchange gets about 18-19Mbps on his connection.

I also correspond with someone who's midlands way and his router syncs at  1,325 / 23,170 kbps.

Wish Be* LLU adsl 2+ would come to my town, cause as I sit here now at the PC I can look out of the window and see the exchange.. so I in theory should be able to get more or less the full 24000 sync.  Unfortunately its one of those exchanges that Be* had scheduled for this summer, but then dropped the plans at around the time they were taken over.

19/10/2006 BT have set a target date of Q4 2010 for the switch to 21CN
10/10/2006 Be Unlimited has updated the enablement date 31/08/2007 (Was previously 31/07/2007)
06/08/2006 Be Unlimited has set an enablement date of 31/07/2007

Bit of a bummer really, that what could have been here in 2 months, Im now going to have to wait another 3.5 years for BT to roll out :(

I work for a college, the connection is called a "janet" or something...

reminds me of when I had a 28k dial up modem and I heard rumours of 512k being possible in the future in homes  ;D

I got a letter from BT today stating they are crediting my account to the tune of £162 for the inconvenience caused over the last six months!

WOOHOO! God bless their little conglomerate socks  ;D

Just wondering, if they have manually messed with my target SNR how long does it take before the system starts managing it itself or does it stay manually managed now.(if that makes sense, had a few glasses of wine)

That is a good question :/

BTw dont really disclose this info (I'm not even sure if there are any fixed rules).
The rumours with Target SNR is about a month and I have seen a case where every month or so a user requests his ISP to reset his Target SNR - yet others can stay put.
Ive also seen cases where Interleaving was supposed to be permanently OFF which suddenly spring back to life again.  ???

Just out of interest heses my stats since they fiddled with my line. Is this amount of FEC/CRC/HEC errors in12 days sounding normal? Not sure what the "error seconds" are either

5 errored seconds isnt too bad.
You can ignore FEC errors cause they just show that interleaving is working as it should.

I believe any HEC errors are counted in the CRC Errors (which is why CRC errors should always be more than HEC errors.)

With regards to the CRC/HEC errors it can depend - you may have racked up several hundred at the time of the errored seconds, then may go for ages without getting anymore.

As long as youre happy with the connection and its performing ok by you then it should be ok.
The only problem that you may experience is at the times that you are racking up lots of cRC errors, your connection will likely perform slowly as data has to be rerequested.

Loss of signal is showing as 1 which means that there probably was one night when you were having lots of problems and you lost sync all together, and could be at the same time as when you had the errored seconds and lots of the other errors.

hmm  router is still hanging on in there though by the looks of it.

Can you pin point the time of when you got the errors - it will likely have co-incided with a drop in SNRMargin.
Then see if you know if any particular event occured at that time - ie street lighting, neighbours outdoor lighting, central heating pump etc etc.

cant find anything in the router that pinpoints when this occured. I wouldnt have thoght it was street lights etc as the count was only on 5 after being connected for 12 days or so, then suudenly went sky high. i will try and kep an eye on it and see if relates to anything that Im doing...
thanks again btw  ;)
