Hi
Glad to see a couple of people have been tempted to try turning the D-Link into a Netgear.
You can safely go back to the D-Link firmware if you wish and it shouldn't affect warranty as once flashed back I doubt there is anyway of knowing.
However there is a chance for any firmware update to go wrong so usual warnings apply.
I ran the Netgear firmware for quite a while, works absolutely fine.
I've now gone back to the D-Link firmware for a couple of reasons, a new firmware (2.97) has appeared and I'm also hoping the GPL source for this will appear shortly also. I've been able to add some extra web pages to the setup interface on an older GPL source, and hope once the newest source is out I can add some tweaks as well as update some of the Linux modules for bug fixes etc.
The D-Link firmware seems to have better Linux networking code than that used by Netgear. For example QOS is supported but is lacking on the Netgear range. I can also pass the
Internet Connectivity Evaluation Tool with the D-Link firmware, where as the Netgear would fail on the NAT test.
Regards
Phil
