Voluntarily sign up for an ID card
« on: May 06, 2009, 01:20:52 AM »

I wonder how big the queue will be for people to voluntarily give away £30
Has no one told them there is a recession on.

Quote
Manchester will be the first city where people can voluntarily sign up for an ID card, ministers are set to confirm.

Anyone over 16 in the city who holds a UK passport will be able to apply for a card from the autumn at a cost of £30.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8035002.stm

edit
Price changed from £60 to £30
Sorry for any confusion.

Am I missing a point here.. but if someone needs to show ID, then why not use you passport anyhow?

Don't you think it could be a bit on the dangerous side for lots of people, especially some of the younger variety to be carrying around their passports.

Now which club might I have left it in ?
Oops, another illegal.....

HI
By the way  the £30 fee is NOT the only cost. As I understand it there is another £100 council tax !!!. They forgot to mention that .

Who is going to pay for an identity card?

I see another poll tax on the way.

If they want to force one on us let them pay for it.

The trouble is of course that there isn't any 'them' - it's our money which is being spent.

£60 not £30

edit.
Yes you are correct at £30.
Don't know how I managed to change £30 to £60 when I C&P the article.

Thanks Kitz, I knew I had not changed it (until now)
But also lower down the article they do say there have been other charges been banded around, althogh they don't say what they may be.

Again, it's just another money making exercise to fill the governments coffers.

I wonder what will happen to people who refuse to pay the charge?
Send them to jail as they did with Poll Tax evaders at a cost of thousands of pounds per week to keep them.
(Although they still had to pay even in the end)

HI

Will these ID cards be issued to all the illegal emigrants (how many tens of thousand of them ),how will we find them ?they are not going to come forward . If only a small percentage of them mean harm to this country then the main argument for ID cards is blown away.

Question
How many people does it take to press the button on a remote controlled bomb?

Answer
ONE.
If an immigrant has nothing to fear, then why should they not carry a ID card (just like in most or some other countries)

I'm not exactly in favour of ID cards, but if needs must and the end justifies the means, then ........
Just like car seat belts we will have to conform or pay the penalty.

HI

quote If an immigrant has nothing to fear

Not talking about Immigrants BUT ILLEGAL EMIGRANTS of which the government Knows not how many there are ,for obvious reason they wont have ID cards . I will also bet that it won't be long before clever fake ID's are available . It seems that the idea of using the iris for recognition has been dropped because its been so unreliable .Even fingerprints can be copied and reproduced.
