HMV (WHY ME)
« on: May 05, 2009, 04:07:17 PM »

Hi all,
Once again I seem to have been hit an online retailers lies.

I ordered this CD double album (Paul McCartney and Wings,Wingspan) for £2.99 (which was an excellent price) on the 25th April.Received an email 27th April to say it had been shipped and money taken ou of account.

As I had not received it  I emailed them yesterday, this was part of the reply.

Quote
I'm sorry to hear that the WINGSPAN: HITS & HISTORY: 2CD has not been
delivered yet.

We sent this item to you on the 27/04/09. Most items do arrive within 2-5
days from us posting them to you.  Having said that, delays do sometimes
occur within the mailing system, and we would ask that you wait a total of
10 days for the delivery to be made.

The last estimated date of arrival for this package is the 07/05/09.

Today I have received a further email.

Quote
Following your recent correspondence with our team, please accept this as confirmation that a refund to the value of £2.99 on order xxxxxxx. Please note that whilst hmv have processed the refund, due to banking policies it may take up to 7 days to appear on your account.

I then emailed them back after noting the said CD had now risen to £13.99,saying that I didn't think the item had even been shipped.

I then received this reply.

We’re really sorry, but as we were in the final stages of dispatching your
item, we discovered that the stock we held was unfortunately damaged. In
light of this, your item was pulled from dispatch to be returned to the
supplier as faulty.

To rectify this issue, we have issued you with an immediately refund for
the damaged item, and have created a replacement order for you, at the same
price. As soon as the stock arrives from the supplier, we will immediately
dispatch your order to your selected shipping address. Please note that as
the order was placed directly onto our dispatch system, you won’t be able
to track it via your online account, however if you have any queries
regarding it’s delivery, you can contact us on 0845 603 8576 between 9am
and 6pm Monday to Friday, or on service@hmv.co.uk.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused on
this occasion, and please don’t hesitate to contact us should we be able to

They discovered that they had got the price wrong, and lied to you about the stock being damaged - it was just an excuse to get out of delivering the order. >:(

If they have given you a refund then how will they be able to re-send the item?
What is the same price? is this the price you originally ordered at or the price you say it is now showing as?

Tell them you do not want a refund (although probably too late now) just send the item when next in stock.

As I read it,they have/will refund me the £2.99,then when the item is back in stock they will then debit me for the original price of £2.99(not the £13.99) which is showing on the website.

After notifying you they have/are giving you a refund I don't think they can they then do that, as it would be taking a debit without your permission.

Not to mention you may have also ordered the item elsewhere (although in this case not very likely)

Its all very confusing, but the last email led me to believe that they were refunding the £2.99 in the meantime,
When new stock arrives they will automatically send it out to you and debit your account with £2.99.

Thats how I interpretated it Kitz.

I am going to sent a 'strong' worded email to them this morning and will also try and phone them.

Just had a further email from HMV as follows.

Quote
Dear xxxxx Thank you for your email. I can confirm that we have contacted our suppliers on your behalf, in order to gain more information about the item on your new order number xxxxxxx Please note that we will charge you £2.99 for this item as that is the price that your original order was priced. Stock has been allocated to your order and will be shipped to you shortly. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. Kind regards, xxxxxxxxxx Online Customer Service Team

It seems they can debit my account when the stock arrives.Tbh I'm fine with that as the CD is an excellent price, elsewhere online the cheapest is jus under £12 (or it was last time I looked)  :D

Update:

I tried to get it free of charge.

Thank you for your email.

We are sorry that you feel misled with this case. We can confirm that there
was a fault with this batch of stock. We did manage to obtain all the stock
back from Royal Mail before it was fully delivered.

We can confirm that a replacement order has been processed we have
allocated stock to your order and this will be dispatched shortly to you at
the price of £2.99. Unfortunately we are unable to send this out free of
charge as this was an issue out of our control

Methinks someone is still telling porkies  :hmm:

At least I tried. :)
