Site doesn't work with Firefox?
« on: May 05, 2009, 11:14:13 AM »

Could somebody please do me a favour, and see if the following site works with Firefox? Using FF in Linux, I just see a border with a blank centre and no content, although the proper display is shown initially before disappearing again.

Hello Eric,

I have just tried the link that you supplied and it seems to work OK for me.

I'm using Firefox 3.0.10 on Windows XP.

Thanks guys. As I suspected, it's something Linux related.

Is working fine for me on XP + FF.
However doing a check on the site shows some coding errors which may stop it displaying properly.

Thanks for that. I'll copy the W3C validator link to them.

May also like to check out this which I submitted about an hour ago (It takes a while for all the test results to come through)

http://browsershots.org/http://www.southern-electric.co.uk/

But from the results so far it looks like the following browsers arent displaying properly

Having probs with

Opera 9.64 - Fedora
Epiphany 2.22 - Ubuntu 8.04 LTS
Iceape 1.1.13 & Debian Testing
Safari 4.0 & Windows XP

Major problems with

Firefox 2.0.0.19 & Ubuntu 7.10
Navigator 9.0.0.6 & Windows XP
MSIE 5.5 & Windows XP
Iceweasel 3.0.4 & Debian Testing

>> Iceweasel 3.0.4 & Debian Testing

That's what I'm using (Iceweasel is just a rebranded Firefox) except that it's version 3.0.9.

I do appreciate the trouble you're going to. As you might have guessed, I've just changed energy supplier to Southern Electric, and I need to access their website to submit meter readings. For the moment I've had to use IE6 with the Wine emulator, which is a less than ideal way to do it.

Was no problem at all.
The w3 site I use a lot as I run my own pages through there, so it was a < 1 min task for me to check that one.
Generally speaking if it passes the w3 test then it should be ok in most browsers.

The other site is one I knew of..  doesnt take long to start a request off..  just takes a while for them to run all the tests and publish the results.

FWIW it works fine for me with latest stable debian lenny and real firefox - not iceweasel.

Didn't try iceweasel.
