Browser(s) crashing
« on: April 27, 2009, 01:34:19 PM »

Bit of a funny one this.

My default browser is Firefox 3.09, normally used in conjunction with Sandboxie 3.36.

I often lurk around http://www.airliners.net/ just to see the pretty pictures.  Recently I found that Firefox crashed when trying to download one of the aforementioned pictures  :-X.  I tried reverting to Firefox 3.07 and that was OK for a few days then the problem started again.

The results of my investigations so far are:

It matters not whether the browser is sandboxed or not, it still happens
It will happen whatever browser is used.  At the moment I have installed Firefox 3.09, IE8, Opera 9.64 and Chrome 2.0177.

I think thereore that I can rule out Browser and Sandboxie problems.

This only happens with the above website so I must assume that it is them, I had a peek at their terms and conditions but just got a headache  ???

Anybody else come across anything similar?

Firefox, wasn't that the plane that Clint Eastwood stole from the Russians.
Or is it a new airline we should avoid.

Sorry about that, just could not resist it.

The crashing is probably the sites way of telling you they are protected files.

I suspect that you are right.  I think that the site counts how many photos you have downloaded and then, at a certain point, sticks the boot in.

I could think of more polite ways of doing it though.

You could try cleaning out your cookies and temp folder and see if it still happens.

Sandboxie puts its cookies etc onto J: drive.  This is a virtual drive and it is automatically cleaned as part of the boot process, i.e. it does not exist until re-created.

I will give it a go with Opera and IE8 and advise.
