printer status "deleting-printed"
« on: April 26, 2009, 07:08:38 PM »

Hi
Can anyone help . After printing a document ,the printer will not print another document. After printing the printer status is at "Deleting-Printed " and just stays like .It does not respond to any attempts to get rid of the last print. The only way is to reboot PC . This has only just started this week  :(
Regards Jeff

It sounds like a spooler problem.

I`d try uninstalling the printer driver & then re-installing.

I do have a little widget  that deletes print jobs & resets the spooler, got me out of trouble with my printer, all the advice on the internet required a re-install of the OS to fix a printer problem I had. I could up load it if the uninstall - re-install doesn`t work

Dont know why its just started doing that Im afraid.. uninstalling and reinstall of the printer software would seem like a good solution to start.

but can you not close down the print manager via Windows Task manager and restart the printer app again rather than having to do a full reboot?

Another thing to try is to  restart the “Print Spooler” service.
Either in Administrative Tools (Control Panel or Start Menu)  stop "Print Spooler" then restart "Print Spooler" at a command prompt.

Might work, and quicker than reinstalling.

I`ve attached (hopefully I have  :) )the gadget/widget I use at work for problems with the spooler.

It should prevent you having to reboot.

Its a Dos cmd/batch file.

To use simply - un zip it & I put it on the desktop (the choice is yours).

Then double click, it opens a Cmd window.

It stops the spooler service & restarts it.

We have a known bug in the software we use & occasionally we have a Print problem which means the queue stalls on the network, its sometimes  operator error, sometimes windows & sometimes just the printer driver (which can be fun without a driver disc) which needs re-installing.

Edit...It also deletes any print jobs!!!!

quote  It stops the spooler service & restarts it.   I manually stopped spooler service  and restarted didn't help ???
