For the last few weeks quite often I have suffered from what seems a very long time for Windows to either Shut-down or Re-boot.
Whilst this has not been a great problem on my main PC as I have got used to it and know it will close or re-boot "eventually" so I have ignored the problem.
However when using my Laptop, it becomes a pain because of having to wait before being able to close the lid etc.
However it's always a pain if all I need to do is re-boot for a particular reason.
(Previous text removed as not the cause of the problem)

Update:
Since posting the above I also had some advice from Jack Hacket (Sim) on CA forum.
......... There are times when a clear out of your user hive can help with slow shut downs -

Give it another go
Update:
That certainly "IS" a lot better, I've tried both re-start's and shut-down's a few time now and it closes almost instantly.
Thanks.
