A little brain teaser !

I was sent this a while ago, thought you might enjoy it, see if it takes anyone less time than it took me   ::)   which was quite a time !!!

What do the following words have in common ?   


1. Banana

2. Dresser

3. Grammar

4. Potato

5. Revive

6. Uneven

7. Assess

If you put the initial letter to the end, they can be read backwards and form the same word as the original..... :graduate:

Just seen this, and before I saw the answer I noticed that if you lop off the initial letter the remainder of each word is a palindrome, so i guess I was half way there.
