Acer Aspire One AOA150AB Notebook memory
« on: February 22, 2009, 10:24:49 PM »

I am going to buy the above small laptop for the bairn to play on you-tube.I see some models come with 512mb of ram and the type is ddr2 553mhz sdram and more expensive ones comw with 1gb.
Im going to be sticking windows xp on it via usb stick, since it dont come with a cd-rom and im looking to buy another 512mb ram module,so im wondering if anyone knows how many pins the ram i need has. Most sites point me to a 200 pin module, but i think thats for a desktop, but i may be wrong

cheers

Check it out at Crucial www.crucial.com/uk to be certain.

Chances are it will be a standard 200-pin SODIMM. 1GB will be not much more than £10, you probably can't buy 512MB. Just make sure it's the right speed - probably PC2-5300 as that covers a multitude of sins.

Seeing as this is a laptop it could be 184pins or 200 best way to find out is to temporarily remove a stick of RAM and look at the numbering along the pins  :)

by the way if one side says 0 on one side then 92 on the other its 184pins

if it says 0 on one side the 100 on the other then its 200pins

not sure if you will understand but it's the best im currently able to put it

After you've got it and loaded XP connect to Crucial and run their system scanner.  ;)

But if it's DDR2 it will be a 200-pin SODIMM.
