The term "Life" dates back to the average time that people could expect to stay alive in jail before dying.

Does anyone think that it may be related to how full our prisons are ? And why is that I wonder.

Just a thought - I certainly don't agree with this kind of minimal sentencing.

If it were up to me, and of course I realise that it isn't, I would arrange to lose a lot of the keys to the cells.

Have a nice day !!!!

Yes, that must be true, otherwise why would the silly s*ds come out of prison and reoffend straight away. I think it's us mugs on the outside who are the fools. The criminal element, especially those that come from foreign shores, and I'm sure there are many of them, know exactly how to work the system, while you me and the man next door pay for it all. If I had had my way, both Mr Brady and Miss Hindley, would not have been drawing breath since they were imprisoned in the 60's. I just wonder how much it has cost to keep those 2 demons alive, although she's now in Hell I would imagine.

Or is it just me being a Grumpy Old Git ? I am 56 after all. ;-)
