thanks for the feedback guys - keep it coming.

If it continues I'll ask vidahost to try transferring me to one of their other data centers...  although I need to double check locations first since I want to ensure hosting remains in the UK.

Since I posted my earlier message, I'm now finding that things haven't visibly changed, and there's sometimes a very slow response to clicking a link.

okay thanks eric.

I didnt ask vidahost to move servers, since I was away for a couple of days and didnt want them to do that when I wasnt around.

However, can I ask - are things much better for everyone else?  Reason I ask is that I honestly havent had a single white page since Wed morning  (although I appreciate I wasnt here Fri and sat).

I've been seeing quite a bit of whitepaging this morning, whilst trying to make a post in the introductions thread and whilst trying to read page 2 of this thread.

Here's a traceroute from me:

okies ty..

I'll get back on to vidahost and see about moving to one of the other datacenters to see if it can bypass that particular hop.

I want to know where its going to be hosted though first tbh. :/

[edit]
Contacted them to ask where..  and got a reply back in under 6 mins.  8)
In view of the fact there may be some inevitable downtime whilst the move is performed, trying to negotiate the best time to do this.

Not had time to do anything about this yet as Ive been so busy over the past few days....

But Ive just been informed that my site has been linked to on slashdot - so guess we will see how Vidahost (and my bandwidth) performs.
Just had a look at my stats and beginning to see a few hundred visits coming in from the US.  Im not sure what the time difference on slashdot to my stats are though.

Cause I try and keep file sizes relatively small it doesnt seem to have had a major impact on bandwidth (I get circa a 100k hits per day as it is).

Sorry Kitz, but I had a white page yesterday. There was nothing odd in the traceroute.

It was really slow at about 8am today ... I got one "page cannot be displayed" but other than that, it seemed fine.

I wish I'd checked the other website hosted here at the time to see if it was slow too. Might just have been a general server issue.

It speeded up shortly afterwards and it's flying now.
