Google mail
« on: February 12, 2009, 08:25:16 AM »

Hi all,

I have Google toolbar for Fire Fox.When i sign in to access my Google mail it appears I'm not signed in.The grey button with the word 'settings' at the side doesn't go green and show I'm signed in.Yet when I click on my Google mail icon I am signed in and can access my mail ok.
I have just tried the same in IE7 and its fine.
It was until this morning.

I don't use FF or GMail, but it may be that your Google Toolbar has gone and got itself corrupted in some way.
Is it an add-on for FF..........if so possibly an uninstall then a fresh download and install may do the trick.

TD waffles.  ;D

Gmail's login details are stored in cookies. Do you have cookies enabled? Any 3rd party programs that might be blocking cookies?

Also, is it any better when you try in safe mode (Firefox safe mode, not Windows safe mode)

It might do if you have accidentaly deleted the Gmail one, but it should be replaced if you access Gmail through FF and not the Google toolbar.

Also, the absence of a cookie ( if that is the problem) would not account for the greyed out link buttons.

Am having a wee trawl through the FF forums.

@TD,everthing is enabled as instructed. The thing is when I come to sign I click the grey button and a small login window opens, I then enter my email address and password,I am then logged in and access my gmail account as normal, but  according to the button on the right hand of the toolbar I'm not logged in,its still grey when it should be green.

If you use Firefox browser, then Gmail notifier may be of use to you. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/173
Works a treat for me.
