Speedtouch 585v6 Tweaked - Advice on Results
« on: February 08, 2009, 04:16:08 PM »

Two days ago, I installed firmware v6.1.4.3 on my ST585v6 and tweaked the Target Noise Margin with DMT.

The synch speed increased from 3008kb/s to 3776kb/s and the SNRM dropped from 11.5 to 8.5dB.

Before I started I did not make a note of the errors, so I would welcome any advice from fourum members on the attached screenshot from DMT.

Do the error counts shown on this screen shot indicate that things are OK with my line?

Can you see scope to tweak a bit more, say in a week or two after things have really stabilised?

Finally, what is the significance of the red bar on the top graph at 276kHz?

Thanks

Bin 64 (276 kHz) is a pilot tone, and is always red-lined like that on ADSL(1).

Your errored seconds average out at something less than 2 each 15 minutes, which is quite satisfactory. I would say that there is scope for tweaking a bit more, but make small adjustments and don't re-sync too frequently.
