I think it is the same place as in XP  .......... Windows\System32\drivers\etc

but I think you may have to switch off the UAC thing to access it.

True Quote from a Microsoft Manager

Quote
"The reason we put UAC into the [Vista] platform was to annoy users — I'm serious," said Cross, speaking at the RSA Conference in San Francisco on Thursday. "Most users had administrator privileges on previous Windows systems and most applications needed administrator privileges to install or run."

How to disable UAC

Kitz,

For the Hosts file, you may have to select "Show hidden files and folders" (just guessing at that, but will go and check)

It is not a hidden file.
The hosts file is still located at "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

Hi

I found this method to update HOST file in Vista

1)  Browse to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories
2)  Right click "Notepad" and select "Run as administrator"
3)  Click "Continue" on the UAC prompt
4)  Click File -> Open
5)  Browse to "C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc"
6)  Change the file filter drop down box from "Text Documents (*.txt)" to "All Files (*.*)"
7)  Select "hosts" and click "Open"
8)  Make the needed changes and close Notepad.  Save when prompted.

 seems to work OK  :)

If you are going to edit it on a regular (which some people do, after the first time) why not put a shortcut on the desktop.
