Netgear DG934 Wireless Router
« on: February 01, 2009, 08:13:23 PM »

Hi All

I used the guide on this website to flash the firmware to a dg834 firmware as i got the router
from SKY , but i wanted to use it on a different ISP.

Once i flashed it, i entered the username and password from my ISP and all went well, i was able
to connect to the internet....but my problem starts here -

I try to get my laptop to connect through wireless but my laptop cannot find
the router!? Not sure why!

What i did notice was that on the front of the router the light for INTERNET is actually lit up in ORANGE
in the manual it says it should be solid GREEN!!

Any help on this is appreciated.

Thanks :(

Are you able to get onto the net using a wired connection to the router?

Have you checked that the wireless lan is active?  If the Internet light is amber and it should be green, perhaps the lights are not functioning properly in relation to the standard firmware, and it's actually the light for the wlan rather than Internet?

edit:changed dsl to internet

The orange light relates to the internet not WLAN, as i've checked this in the manual, the wireless light is solid green as it should be.

What do you mean by "changed dsl to internet"

Thanks

Hi Bungle240,

When you flash a router with new firmware it is quite possible that the lamp-lighting section can be changed as well, so until proven to be fully functional with the lamps still working as per their descriptions on the modem, it's best not to rely on the lamps alone.

Kind regards,
Walter

I made a mistake and edited my post accordingly.  In my unedited post I incorrectly stated 'dsl light' instead of 'internet light'.

When  you access the router via wired ethernet does the router's software settings indicate that the wlan is active?
