Now you have me at it.

Sorry Chris Mr.

I went to hit the quote key and hit the delete key on "Chris's post" and it got deleted.
Surely that should not happen, as I don't have privileges or anything like that to remove other peoples posts.

So (pst.... ) must be the answer.

I've managed to put it back, just to maintain Chris' embarrassment

Nearly did it again.

What about my embarrassment. :-[

But like I said, neither I nor other people "except admin" should be allowed to remove other peoples posts.

The mods should be allowed to as well, but on most forums where I've worked, the protocol was always you did not remove the posts of someone of higher status than yourself.

There does seem to be something amiss with the forum configuration here, and I've raised it with Kitz.

I think what the problem was is that originally this thread was set so that only Admin, mods and any special groups could actually start a thread in this section.
However now that OF is 'helpful' (same would have applied to the ISP reps and Respected members) then it allowed him to start a topic in here.
...  and somehow along with those permissions it also allowed him to delete any posts in the thread that he'd started.

Since it was only the announcement section that had different permissions, and because OF had actually started the thread..  thats why only in this sectionand on this particular occasion it allowed him some moderating powers.
Ive now changed this section so that it now has the same permissions as elsewhere in the forums.

Thanks for letting me know :)

Thanks for the explanation Kitz.

Now you mention it and now look at the posts, I never a took any notice of the extra icons, but as I posted earlier with regarding removing the post (pst... I must be because I nearly did it again) basically I can see how now, because I am normally just so use to hitting the only icon that is there, whereas the delete post icon occupies  the same place as the Quote icon.

Is it still there?  and is it only on this thread?

I changed the permissions yesterday so that anyone can now start a topic in this section, rather than it being just specific groups.
Changing the permissions should have reset it.

No it's not showing on any other post now except my own.

Sorry I should have re-posted, but it's all back to normal now.
Thanks.

np,

Actually come to think about it, "I did post a reply" saying it was back to normal, (and commented on being demoted from something I never knew I had)

Another of my posts on a different thread has also disappeared. Although it maybe was "slightly" OT
It was on the http://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php?topic=4304.new;topicseen#new thread.

I asked what was the implication of plugging a phone into a DSL line without a splitter.
But the question disappeared. (or at least I can't find it)

Its not been deleted..  certainly not by the mods/admin.

1) If they had,  it would be in the recycle bin.
2) It would also show up on the forum moderation log.

Youve not done a me have you?
Twice on Sat I thought I'd posted something - only to find later that I hadn't and I was in such a tizz that I'd never actually hit the post button.
