I opened the forum this morling and thought Oh no !

I used to go on an excellent forum years ago for Football referee's. The Discussions and feedback were superb. Then it got repeatedly hit with spam. Ruined the site. It became a mere shadow of what it once was. :'(

That reminds me I'll have to have a look to see what its like now

Can I just ad a thanks, for everyone keeping on top of these situations before they do get out of control.

This is always one thread I am happy to open only to find I very rarely need to give any input.

'Well you know what I mean, hopefully'

Thanks.

I'm sure others have already spotted this but what is allidys9821 on about and should he be chastised. It's not really spam because he doesn't seem to be selling anything just cluttering up the forum with gibberish.

Is it a way to (theoretically) get a positive profile, by posting various non-spam topics then sitting a while and starting to spam?

The replies are either by someone with a poor grasp of English, or are generated by a program whose programmer has a poor grasp of English!

I've seen it on other blogging sites, where you get very generic replies saying things like "I learned a lot from this site", which are the result of robot postings to get a positive profile.
