saturday 24th chat
« on: January 24, 2009, 07:28:35 AM »

Good morning, and I hope all are fit and well today.

Yesterday's snow has gone and it is soft and mild today, so far anyway.

TD will be out today with his clipboard and pen doing his thing for the RSPB and counting the feathered eating machines as part of the "Big Garden Birdwatch" census......well worth doing if you can.

Other than that, a lazy day.

Hope you all have a good one.  :)

Good Morning all,

From a very cold and frosty Sheffield (Sue just told me that after returning from morning walkies with Blue)  :D

@ the RSPB bird census, she has noticed she has not seen many of the smaller birds this winter.Plenty of Wood pigeons,Magpies and Blackbirds.
The odd Robin has been see,but not many sparrows,or tits.

Have a good day and keep warm.  :)

Morning all.

Quite a heavy frost this morning. Next door's garden was flooded yesterday, and has become an ice rink today. I expect it'll be tee shirts and shorts tomorrow.

Try to enjoy it, whatever you're doing. :)

@UncleUB ..... the sparrows and tits are all down here in Gloucestershire ..... eating me out of house and home!  So far, we have logged Sparrows, wood pigeons, tame doves, robins, tits of several different varieties, a wren, Robins, wagtails, green finches (we have them all year round) and a couple of ducks from Slimbridge.

Frost has gone and our garden is beginning to look like Heathrow .... landings, take-offs and taxiing/eating.  We've locked the cats indoors and they are sitting on the window sill growling because we won't let them at 'em!

Morning all,

Hope the weather is conducive to everyone's bird count this weekend.  Brighter here at the mo after a frosty start.

Not a lot doing here today apart from bits n bobs...nothing exciting unfortunately.
Have a good day everyone.

Went to see Frost/Nixon at the cinema last night. aprt from one lady I think i was the youngest one there. I remember seeing the original interviews on a historic replay on telly and stll felt th "oooh" factor but the film does bring this in context very well.

I was supprised the film didn't mention Frosts involement with that was the week that was or the interview wit the conman in front of a audience of his victims but on reflection it would have spoiled the outlay and pace of the film.

The rendition of frost kept breaking into a Tony Blair for me particualy during the first half of the film.

The atmosphere toward the end becomes very powerfull

I can highly recomend it, if you do see it you may feel as I did never would I have though the word "cheeseburgers" could have such a cutting meaning. That moment puts the a big part of the situation in context sp aptly.

Some good stuff seems to be comming up as movies, like busses..........

I think the worst of the storms are to the south, Isn't Kate toward the north ? Hoping she's out shopping or such like

She lives near Bordeaux which is near the west coast and well down.

Just read what you said about France taking a battering... I too hope Kate is ok and nothing untoward has transpired where she is.

Have a good evening everyone....take care.
