AdAware Anniversary Edition
« on: January 21, 2009, 04:42:21 PM »

AdAware 2008 has now got a complete upgrade to AdAware Anniversary Edition (version 8.0.1).  It is available for free download at www.filehippo.com. :)

I wonder why it's nearly "Twice the size" 33+MB compared to 18+MB of it's predecessor version 2008?

I've stopped using AdAware as it usually finds zilch... I keep SuperAntiSpyware & MalwareBytes as my main scanning tools.

But when you did use Ad-Aware, did you ever run SuperAntiSpyware or/and MalwareBytes immediatly afterwards and if so did either of them pick up anything that could have been detrimental to your system that Ad-Aware did not?

Hmm, Adaware was always the last of the trio that I ran - it would find the odd tracking cookie, but not much else.

Apart from SpywareBlaster I don't use anything else, although I have to admit I don't surf the net anything like I used to, so it is no great surprise for me that Ad-Aware never picks anything up "with the exception of the odd tracking cookie"

edit:
This new Anniversary Edition is certainly much faster than previous versions and also has a automatic update, even in the free version.

Although the pop-up add gets a bit annoying but I think I found a setting to turn of the notification in it's setting, but need to wait to see if it comes again.
