Woohoo!
« on: December 23, 2008, 07:05:45 PM »

Thought I would update you guys on how my BBand is doing.

Well, three days ago, having an uptime of 6days, I decided I would give the old DMT a go, and brought the SNR down to a 9dB margin, allowing a sync of 7072kbps

And I can confirm the current CRC error rate is very satisfactory - under 100 over 3days woohoo

So I don't know what has happened, but before around 7pm the connection would go mad at that sort of sync.

So fingers crossed all will be good for a while now:D

Also, I hope everyone has a Great Christmas and a smashing new year :) :congrats:

Well the connection is still good - well better again actually.

BT have been working on the pole outside my house, and the attenuation is permantly 29dB!

Allowing me these stats on Default 12dB noise:-
6912kbps
12dB SNR

Its been like that for 9days now! Under 200CRC so I am very happy:D

Just waiting for Tiscali to go ADSL2+, I know my line will behave now:D

Seems ok jamie for a default 12dB.
Is your SNRM a  lot more stable now too or does it still fluctuat?

Still goes down to about 10dB at 7pm, racks up a load of FEC but CRC are relatively low...

12 -> 10dB is perfectly fine and normal.  If 10dB is the lowest it does go, then you could likely cope with a lower target SNR...  but the main thing is that the line is much more stable :)

Not the case unfortunately :(

I have tried 9dB target but the CRCs start racking up again.

I am happy with the current throughput which is a healthy 6meg so all is well again:D
