32 or 64bit XP ?
« on: December 21, 2008, 01:03:23 AM »

morning all, I was wandering what are the pros and cons of moving to a 64bit OS as i'm considering installing XP64bit as all my hardware seems compatible with it and have the usual softwares available which brings me back to the main question is it really worth the switch ??

Thanks in advance  :)

Hi, 64bit OS does seem to be the way to go.
Updating to XP 64bit does not seem worth the expense.
Hardware manufacturers never really accepted it,  you are unlikely to find many drivers for it.

Personally, I would wait for Windows 7, as that should (hopefully) be a more fundamental change than the lip gloss of Vista.
Then there is always Windows 8.................

Just as a matter of interest, I read somewhere that 'windows 7' is a bit of a misnomer, as it's thought to have more or less the same kernel as Vista, so is probably more like windows 6.5... but then again I don't want to rekindle the whole windows numbering debate.
