I have tried various other browsers including FireFox but we just didn't click somehow. As you will see from my chitchat post I'm using Opera at the moment, taken from a CD so its probably not the latest version.

Yorkie,I must admit I found it a bit strange at first, but once you get it set up to your liking its a lot better than IE7 and the pages load faster(they do for me at least). :)

I must admit I ditched IE years ago because of its very bad reputation on security, currently I use Firefox which suits me.

Problem is switching from anything you have used for years presents problems, however I would persevering with Firefox you can set it up anyway you wish and as others have said it is fast, and its tabbed browsing is IMHO much better than anything IE has. I have tried Opera on a couple of occasions but it did not suit me.

Like the others, I ditched IE a long time ago although I do have the latest version installed.

Use the browser that suits you best............ outside IE, no one browser is "the best".

I like Opera, mostly for the "Wand" facility, a very good and very secure password manager. It is also fast, very secure and has a very small footprint as far as resources are concerned.

I only have one problem with Opera and that is with Hotmail. When it was MSN Hotmail, no problem but now that it is Windows Live Hotmail, I cannot open my mails.......log-in ok, see my mails sitting there, but cannot open them. This is a universal problem, as a quick read through the Opera forum will testify.
Microsoft are on record as having stated that it was their intention that Hotmail will now be accessed through only IE, Firefox or Safari.
There is some technology in there blocking other browser ( packet sniffing..........is that right ? )

TD got round that problem..........scrubbed Hotmail and moved to Yahoo mail which works perfectly in Opera.

I haven't tried Google Chrome, doesn't it spy on you?  and bombard you with adverts?

Got my automatic update at around 6.35 p.m. with no problems. Have to confess I did revert back to IE7 having read further on the subject and realised they were after gaming passwords, so sorry for putting the wind up those of us who still use IE7.
