WAP - Access Question
« on: December 06, 2008, 02:12:56 PM »

Let me at the outset apologise for this potentially stupid question.

I use a DG834Gv2 as a separate WAP (it's connected to an ST585v6).

My question

I have several wireless client pcs connected to the WAP which access the internet. Does that mean that they are sharing the wireless capabilities of the WAP eg let's say that the wap provides 16Mbps and I have 4 wireless clients, would they all be sharing the 16Mbps or would they each have access to 16Mbps (ignoring ISP speed).

I hope that I have explained myself clearly.

Many thanks for the info

Cheers

Available bandwidth on the WAP is divided amongst all machines.

ie 16/4
However that doesnt mean that each will only get 4Mbps.. ie if machine 1 is only using 1Mbps, then machine 2 can have all thats spare up to the 16Mbps
