Kitz, your edit may not have worked as I only just received the first response.

Do you want to try editing your post again.

(NOT a new reply)

Kitz, I have not had any notifications other than the first one from your original post, although I did edit my original post "after" your post, but you have not responded, so it may well be that new notifications are not sent just for edited posts.

If you would like to "edit" your last post again, then this will confirm that if I don't get notified.

I've edited it for you.
That's as maybe, but you also posted (I've edited it for you) so that would defeat the object.

If you want to try again, " but only edit your last post" thanks.

OF,
Eric is off-line at the moment so I'll try the experiment for you.

Just editing to check OF's theory.

OK, I think I gave it long enough after you edited your post (10minutes) and no notification.

It's not a problem, but just wanted to know because sometimes I edit one of my posts with either updated info, or some other comment, sometimes with "the other comment" I would have expected some possible feedback, "such as with Dave.m's post regarding NI contributions"

The reason I wanted to know was:-
If you/we have read a post and do not receive a further notification then we assume that is it finished with (done and dusted so to speak), so we do not go back to a post just on the off-chance anyone has edited the post and therefore possibly missing out on any possible new information.

But now I know I will probably use a new reply in the future if I think it may be important.

Thanks for your help, we got there in the end.

Just out of interest OF - I edited one of my posts last night at November 30, 2008, 07:35:00 PM by kitz and deliberately didn't post in the thread to see if you got an acknowledgement or not.

Seems like it doesnt send a notification out.

Seems like it doesnt send a notification out.

Certainly looks that way.

Unfortunately I only got a notification for your initial post, of which you had then edited before I had responded.
So would not (if it worked) have received a edited notification.

But with TD's help I'm pretty sure notifications are not sent for edited post's.
Obviously this can be a point in it's favour, especially if a post is edited only amended for cosmetic purposes such as a typo or possibly something thats not too important.

I know in the past I may have edited one of the tutorial 3/4 times and always felt slightly guilty that people may have been receiving notifications and not being able to see any additional posts and therefore wander what's going on.

So, realistically, for something of consequence, a new post should be used.
Whereas a typo correction etc, then use the edit feature.

PMFJI but I am not getting any notifications to posts or to threads I have started at all and 'notify me of replies' is the default.

Cheers
