Hello
« on: November 27, 2008, 02:25:31 PM »

Just joined although I have been lurking around here for well over a year and thought it was about time I signed up.

So here I am :)

Having been looking at the ISP ratings and linking to some of the sites I noticed the O2 link does not work at:
http://www.kitz.co.uk/files/jump2/jump2.php?isp=o2

Just thought I would let you know.

BB,
Welcome to the forums.
I moved you to the Intro section so that others will be able to say Welcome too.

Thanks for the note regarding the link not working, I'll bring it up with Kitz.

Welcome BB. :)

By the way, the link works fine, so perhaps there was a problem with the O2 site earlier.

Hi BritBrat and welcome

Are you still having problems with that link - it all seems fine here and should take you direct to the o2 homepage.

Hello BritBrat and welcome to the Forum.  Afraid that link works ok for me too so your problem seems to be a touch of the "OFs" as OF says himself

Sorry about that, it seems to be blocked in my host file but it is so large it would take ages to find the IP causing it.

I should have checked first, my mistake.

EDIT:

I can get to http://broadband.o2.co.uk/home/index.jsp OK with host file active.

Does your link pass through another site (referal)? as it may be I am blocking that as I know I block many referal links.

My connection is top class using Zen, I have seen Roseway on the Zen forums for a long time although I believe you left Zen.

I use a dynamically generated file for all the ISPs which calls the correct ISP which saves a lot of duplicate coding for all the different ISPs and much easier to change if anything alters.
O2 (and any other that may be displayed in the top of the page banner) do go through an affiliate link.  Hadnt thought that it may be something thats blocked in the host file, but that could well be what it is.

I use my own banner rotator since I dont like flashy stuff that distracts too much from main content and try keep ads to the minimum, but even though I use my own script they still use an affiliate link to track. I use DGM and didn't think they were blocked as one of those 'bad trackers'.

Thanks for the reply, but I am used to it doing that on many sites so no big deal.

The other day I ran some updates and virus scans on OH laptop and to my surprise it had phorm cookies and we are not on BT or any of the other Phorn ISP's (Zen).

So now OH has a small host file with all the phorn links added.

Call me paranoid because sometime I am :)

As for Phorm I hate the system as you may have guessed.

I think theres quite  a lot of people that dont like phorm or what it could/can do.... so youre not alone on that one.
