Picture this
A person commits a serious crime or crimes  and is jailed for x years . He /she is fed and housed ,has medical care etc etc. All for free. At the end of their sentence returns to their home and continues as normal until next time .
An elderly single person has paid their taxes and dues all their life ,comes to a point where they need permanent care and protection. Do they get it  yes but they will be required to sell their property and use their savings to pay for it .

I don't disagree with the principle of charging criminals for their board and lodgings, but I fail to see any justice in an innocent person being charged for being wrongly banged up. ???
