The new software, code-named Morro, will be a no-frills program suited to smaller and less powerful computers.

I hope that is what it says.. if so it sounds good.

If its AV that simply monitors progs and keeps up to date with new virus definitions then I'll be happy.

MS still trying to be the "one-stop-shop" but if it does the job efficiently who can complain.

You wouldn't mean Norton by any chance?

I have Norton Internet Security 09 and find it doesn't hog resources like previous versions did. It now only works in the background after the PC has been idle for a set time as set by the user. The implementation of pulse updates every 10 -15 minutes is a nice feature too.

Maybe they've learned, would be interesting to try it. I may install the trial version somewhere just to see how it performs.

I must say, the phrase 'Microsoft security' looks like an oxymoron to me. ::)

Some examples of deliberate oxymorons include:

    * Deafening silence
    * Now Then
    * Forward retreat
    * Accidentally on Purpose
    * Little Big Man
    * Living Dead
    * Pretty Ugly
AND NOW   microsoft security  :graduate:
