Cliches
« on: November 17, 2008, 08:53:32 PM »

Most Hated Cliches.

Basically I started this thread to try and get you all onboard.

To be fair there are some annoying cliches that get right up your nose 110%. The reason being, and I’m not being funny here, but they get used 24/7 by some people.

At the end of the day, hopefully lessons will be learned, and let’s face it, there should be a raft of proposals in the pipeline to roll out and help us going forward and get out of this finger flicking “ “ quote/quote lifestyle.

To be honest with you all, the fact of the matter is that too many people use cliches like there is no tomorrow, and let’s face it, I can’t get my head around some of them.

You know what I mean!

this was covered quite well by one of the comics on this show

I must admit I did have the horrible habit of ending sentences with "Like" his comments on this made me cringe a bit, thankfully it was drumed out of me by a friend  :-X, Thank's Daisy

I've noticed, teenage girls will tend to precede everything with "Right," and "He was like.. doing this right, and then I was like.. oh my god..." grrr!!

I'm sure I've got some annoying habits too!

You've picked on one of my pet hates there Chris. I recently read a magazine interview with a Linux programming geek, and everything he said was 'like' something:

"I was talking to Joe Smith and he was like 'How do you find the time?' and I was like 'I just have to make the time Joe, because it's important' and he was like 'My wife wouldn't let me do that' and I was like .... etc. "

Aaagghh! ???

can't remember which tornament it was but I loved the time when the England football team members attempts to compete with each other as to how many song titles they could slip into press interviews.

No one cottoned on (wonder where that phrase comes from) at first until they noticed wry grins from listening team members during interviews after a curious phrase was used mid sentence by a player

mind you...http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=0wR8BfBSQVA&feature=related
