Kitz has got a flat in the exchange broom cupboard. It's small, but it's homely. :D

Horribly familiar.  :o
I left Tiscali about a year ago when my download speeds dropped below my uploads every evening.
They had been nearer 8meg (my line was at 8128/448) and still were in the early morning.

jeff - thats awful :(

Refresh my memory - sorry I cant recall if you are on datastream or IPstream.  Have they said anything recently about your speeds - you contention problem has been going on for a while now.  I know youre still stuck within contract, but if youre getting that each nite then it may be a good reason for a "not fit for purpose" get out clause.

BTw have guidance on what they set for their network standards - below 400 kbps on a line syncing at 2Mbps or more connection is considered unacceptable. - link

For what it's worth I got some compensation and a rapid exit (by MAC) after formally complaining about 3 months of truly awful service - followed Tiscali's process and escalated to the ISPA through all their levels (Tiscali just ignored it at first).

But I had to block the Direct Debit and be incredibly persistent and put everything in writing (which they never do). They have departments that just don't talk to each other and they were still chasing me for money (incorrectly) over 6 months after I'd moved on and the high-level complaints people had settled everything including the compensation!

I will never, ever, deal with them again and fairly obviously don't recommend them to anyone in any circumstances.

Hi
Kitz I am on IP stream .I spoke to the high level complaints dept. The guy appointed to try and sort it out basically said it was contention (surprise surprise ) and that it was the users fault doing too many downloads   ???.He then went on to say how he was having same problem with his line (not same ISP) that must mean something ?? . I sent him some evidence of the problem at his request ,a few days later He sent me a mail saying he couldn't open the file . I sent him a csv file no acknowledgement of that one . I phoned 3 or 4 times He was never there .He did phone a couple of times when I was out but when I rang back he was not available .  I got a snail mail from him saying that as he hadn't heard from me he would close the problem report down . I tried to ring him but again could not get hold of him .   :wall:
I can if I persist in reconnecting get better connection but it generally it does NOT last very long . Then gradually things improve say after 10PM.  >:(
regards .

Wow, snail mail. From Tiscali!

The only letters I ever got were threatening ones.  >:(

As I said, put everything in writing. If you use phone or email follow it up with a real paper letter.

Hi
Kitz I am on IP stream /snip/

IP Stream on Tiscali is their SnailSurf package!! :D

They just don't have a enough bandwidth too cope with their subscribers! In other words...they are over-subscribing! :'(

It is a real bummer because their other platforms aren't too bad...

I did correct you in this thread  ;)

Of course!  ;)
