Motherboard CPU Type ?.
« on: January 22, 2007, 04:44:03 PM »

Hello All.

I've got a machine with a mobo that's failing, it uses a socket,  'A' Duron cpu,
I have a spare mobo which is also socket 'A' and it says use a  Athlon XP or Duron cpu.

So could I just use the old cpu out of the old mobo in the new mobo ?.   ;)

Michael.

Make sure bus speed is correct, if the motherboard isn't one that auto-detects. If in doubt, set it to 100Mhz and go upwards from there if the CPU isn't detected as fast enough.

Of course. I've used my ancient Duron 800 on newer motherboad based on VIA KM400
