tuesday 11th chat
« on: November 11, 2008, 08:50:15 AM »

Morning, Kitizens, and I hope that all are well and ready for the fray.  :)

Wet, windy, cold and miserable it is today, dreich, as they say around here.

The eleventh day of the eleventh month...Armistice Day. This marks the last day of the Great War........the politicians and the officer class of the day knew that this was the last day of the war, yet they continued to send men to fight and on this day 11,000 british and commonwealth servicemen and women died in action along with I know not how many thousands of German service personnel.
Why did all these young people have to die on the day the war stopped ?

Try and have a good day.  :)

Bonjour !  TD and all.

It' a very pleasant morning here  :)    We shall be  walking down to the village later for the Armistice commemoration.   It's a Bank Holiday here so everywhere will be fairly quiet as most of the shops close.   I expect I shall be busy later trying to sort out my problem posted in another topic   :'( :'(

 Take care all .....

Sadly I had to have my cat put to sleep yesterday, he was not well over the weekend and his breathing became laboured yesterday.
He was the last link with my parents, I believe I have mentioned before that I sort of inherited him.

He was a lovely natured cat, not once did he show any temper and never scratched me even when we played, my previous cat used to forget himself sometimes  and dig his claws in.

Feeling down to-day, and having the day off. Occupying myself with an uncommon burst of housework.

Yorkie,  I am so sorry to read your news.  What a sadness for you. Take comfort from the love you gave him over the years and the love he gave you back.    Take care.     Kate

Oh dear Yorkie,so sorry about your cat.Think about the good times you had with him.You cannot see them suffer and having them put to sleep must be the hardest thing, yet the kindest thing you can do.  :flower:

Sorry to hear of your loss Yorkie.  I know how difficult it is to deal with.  Our cat was 19 years old when his kidneys failed and we had to have him put to sleep.  The link back with your parents makes it all the more difficult for you.  Best wishes to you

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts and messages, didn't mean to put a damper on things.
One thing I will not miss is renewing the litter tray every other day, and because he preferred the natural clay it tracked all over the house, the dry bits between his paws I might add, always knew where he'd been.

I caught the two minutes silence on radio 4 for Armistice Day, it was quite poignant.

I've been researching my family history now for some years and eventually you come across the War Graves Commission web site, I find that very moving and usually end up with tears rolling down my face at the loss of so many young lives.

Damn going soft in my old age.

Yorkie,
Extremely sorry to hear about your cat, especially as he was linked to your parents.

Saying that "it was for the best" doesn't ease the pain. Please remember the good times you both had and enjoy your memories.
