Difference of opinion with DMT ,routerstats and modem
« on: November 10, 2008, 07:20:32 PM »

Hi guys just had a quick look at the stats on Dmt tool and routerstats and thought i was racking up a lot of errors.
 On double checking i found that on both programs they were rolling the day over ie reaching 2 days and the starting from one day ( Hope i explained it clear enough) .
Giving the impression that the errors were racked up in one day.
The stats show below the values and the actual uptime from the router .
Is this a glitch with the router or the two programs

Routerstats
Total Up Time:
 1 days 2 hours 8 min 41 sec

CRC:  1856
LOS:  286
LOF:  0
ES :  1148

DMT Tool
Total time = 1 days 1hours 58min 20sec
SF  = 25826110   CRC = 1855
LOS = 286   LOF = 0   ES = 1147

Latest 1 day time = 1hours 58min 20sec
SF  = 417680   CRC = 30
LOS = 3   LOF = 0   ES = 22

Previous 1 day time = 24hours 0sec
SF  = 5082380   CRC = 904
LOS = 136   LOF = 0   ES = 550

Netgear
Up Time 121:44:50

AFAIK most routers total the errors up over time (they are cumulative).  Error stats normally only clear if reset or the router is restarted.
Mine will rack up over periods of weeks/months unless I reboot on all the routers that Ive had.

I've not heard of a router that resets after 2 days..  its normally in conjunction with your uptime figure.

If looking at someone stats then we divide the no of errors by the uptime figure.

So with yours it would be
1 days 2 hours 8 min 41 sec =  approx 26 hrs = 93600 seconds

of which 1148 Errored Seconds is perfectly acceptable.
Obviously if all  ES's came at once then its more serious than spread out over time.

Hope that makes sense.

PS

The bottom figure Up Time 121:44:50 is actually the time your router has been on for.
Most routers will display 2 'up times'..  one is the 'switched on', the other is the 'online'.   We ignore the switched on time.
