How Will You Share Your £M's
« on: November 04, 2008, 10:54:14 PM »

Out of interest and just to set you thinking.

If you had a big lottery win, say about £10 million, how would you 'sort out' your family?

I have an idea that might help all of them. I would pay off their mortgages, no matter how little or how much they still owe. That would leave them with a roof over their heads and it would equate to extra income for all of them with a house as they would not have the loan hanging over their heads. Any without a mortgage would just dip out! They have either paid it off and so already own the roof or they are on benefits etc and so why should I help the ruddy government by taking on some of their clients.  ;)

What would you do in the situation?

I would be out of this country like a shot.I would see my 'immediate' family alright, then a property in the south of France and one in Florida.I need warm sun for my aching joints.
One of my 'dreams' would be able to watch test match cricket all over the world. :)

theory is £3 million so you can set yourself up with a good home without being ostensacious. some luxurys and have enough left over to invest so you don't have to work again no matter what your age.

Family is family so I would sort them all out with a good home and a nice wedge of cash.

Other than that I would tour round the world, and after a while, get a particular sailing yacht which I'm capable of sailing round the world stopping off at various places to explore for 2-3 months a year

I think my first priority would be to set up trust funds for the grandchildren, which couldn't be touched till they reached 18 or 21.

Yep, but with inflation how much would it have to be now to equate.

Well, as we have an 'agreement' I'd lose half of it straight away to hubby  :'(  but having done that, it would be up to him to sort his own family out and leave me to mine...

Then I'd move back to Sandgate, buy a new Saab and make a donation to the Cats Protection League (and probably a couple of breeders too  ;) ).

Easily pleased  8)

I think I'd buy a nice little property in Eastbourne to retire to... as much as I love Norwich, I have no family ties here... and I've loved Eastbourne ever since I can remember.

I might also buy all the parts to build a new PC too.

You're too kind Steph. I was secretly hoping you'd take the lot so we could run off together.
