Best Browser?
« on: November 03, 2008, 03:51:07 PM »

1)Which internet browser is the fastest and most efficient in your opinion?

Im currently using Mozilla but am wondering if there are any better browsers.

2) Which browser are you using at the moment?

I always use Firefox (currently V3.03). I never use any flavour of IE if I can possibly avoid it  ;)

I've heard that Google Chrome is faster than FireFox 3.0 and IE. Have you tried it?

I refuse to have anything from Google on my PC.

Google is possibly the most virulent form of spyware that you can be infected with.

Yh, i just did a bit of search and the reviews do actually seem bad in general.

Im going to give Opera a try, does it use less resources than IE and or Mozilla?

Just looking and reading you post in Opera (no other tabs etc open)  and am using about 45Mgb RAM..............don't know how that compares to the other browsers.

The program itself takes about 10.25 MB space, and the config/profile about another 5.

Ok, i definitely see improvements when browsing with Opera.

Are there any guides to optimize settings?

I couldn't get on with Opera, you find that some sites won't display correctly with it :(

I use Firefox 3.03 and compared to IE on Vista, it flies!

 That is a true fact!

The speed of IE and loading web pages is shocking on Vista, but yet on Firefox it is impressively quicker!  :linux:

I just tweaked Opera by using some settings from a website and it responds even quicker now!

I'd say Firefox wins hands down... on the few occasions I have to use IE tab for awkward sites they always seem to load slower when using IE's engine.

Two FF functions I really like are:

1) The option to have Firefox restart with your previously opened tabs & windows.

2) The History function which not only stores your previously opened tabs, but also remembers the history of that particular tab... very useful if like me you're forever closing tabs absent-mindedly.

Try using FasterFox on it, improves browsing speed alot.

I know FasterFox doesn't work on FireFox 3.0.3 but i have a modified version of it. I haven't touched any of the settings. Just changed the maxversion and version value.
