You could try a Sky branded Netgear DG834GT from Ebay and reflash it with either the normal or custom firmware.

Netgear DG834Gv4.

Speedtouch 585v6.

An unlocked BT 2-Wire 2700HGV.

Sometimes matching the router chipset to your DSLAM hardware can improve things.

Am going to go round the neighbours tonight, see if they have been experiencing similar problems recently. Also, see how their line stats (sync speed, attenuation and snr) compare with mine.
