Hello from HPsauce
« on: October 28, 2008, 06:27:27 PM »

Which as many may know is sadly no longer a British product... :(

I should have joined here ages ago as I'm always referring to stuff on the main site.
I'm semi-retired having once been an IT manager, what a relief to be out of the corporate world!

These days I'm self-employed providing computer support to home users and small businesses in my area, something that is much more rewarding than my previous incarnation. ;)

I participate in the forums at PlusNet (previous ISP) and Be* (current ISP) among others; it was the latter that prompted me to finally join here.

Looking forward to learning and sharing.  :)

I'll do my best to help when I can.  :P

PS Kitz - I see you're busy in the Be Forum again ;). Luckily none of the problems there seem to affect me at present.
(different ID there if you're wondering)

Kitz.
I know exactly what you mean, since I brought new PC's and stopped tinkering all the time with old PC's it's amazed what I have forgotten.

I normally keep a low profile there.. but got involved due to this exchange being one of the first affected - the week before the cable break.
Therefore I didnt buy that excuse that was going round.

Since no info was forth-coming from anywhere.. I guess I decided to take the bull by the horns and contact someone in authority myself to ask what was going on...  which was when he agreed with the points I'd put forward and promised to get something out to everyone on Monday.

.. and they did so at least thats something that were not mushrooms anymore. :)

... but whilst there I happened to notice another post.. and answered.. and you know how it goes.
You'll find I probably go quiet again now unless theres any more probs

I thought you may well have a different name - not sussed you yet though   :D

Edit
Sussed your Be ID  ;)

Yeah thats kinda what happened to me..  sometimes cheaper to buy a new PC with it all in, rather than build your own.
Long gone are the days when you could save a few hundred quid that way. So unless you want something specific like I did with the media centre.. then I'd rather buy.
Once upon a time I used to build for mates too..  but now its much easier to get a prebuild, then if anything goes wrong the company are responsible.
