TG585v7
« on: October 21, 2008, 07:08:42 PM »

I am on o2 and have just plugged in the TG585v7 router.

I have tried to get RouterStats Lite 3.5 to work to view my noise levels and also the DMT v 7.  Both have refused to work.

DMT7 has colour flashed (red), Administrator and password (which I left blank) and would not connect.

Do you know if I have to set a password before I view the stats?

Thanks in advance.

When you first open DMT and before you "connect".

Go to
> Special
> Misc Options

Then on the RH side under firmware specific
Tick the box "Allow untested firmware versions"

Whilst there check that
"Unlock experimental area" is also ticked.

Click Save

Now try connecting again.

Nope, still the same thing.  The box where Administrator and password flash "red".

I do not have the password, except it is "blank", and the DMT tool has noticed this.

Any other ideas?

Mine is standard ST firmware and I set my own passy - so perhaps its different for O2

Have you tried the default o2 login

Thanks for your suggestions.

Can you actually telnet into the o2 router at all?

...  and just checking that you are using dmtv7 (which is the one I managed to get it working with).

Failing that - it must be something in your particular f/w version thats causing problems :(

Yes it is DMT 7 that I have.   I gave it up as a bad job.  I do not like surfing blind (if you know what I mean).  I have no way of knowing what my noise margin is.  so I put my Netgear back on and I have a better idea.

I think the Thompson's  synced just that bit higher, but I did not like the feel it gave me, so I will stick to Netgear for the present.

Thank you for your help.

i tried to use routerstats and DMT tool on my sky dg934 but it kept saying the user name or password was wrong when i was using the same login details that worked when i login to the router using IE????

google it and a lot of people are having the same problem - sky locked telnet out on all dg934's.

i rang them and asked for the login details and they said that they dont know what they are !!  got a ticket and went to 2nd level and got the same response.

only way round to to get a none-sky firmware, flash it, and break skys T&Cs.

<problems problems problems all day long, will my problems work out right or wrong> if you remember that one

If you have the latest o2 firmware then you can't use DMT or RouterStats - i think.

RouterStats works with the o2 router, im using the Lite one right now. You have to login as SuperUser on settings to use it.

Yes, it's just that you can't use DMT tool to tweak the TG585v7. As you pointed out, logging in as SuperUser you should be able to get the stats using both RouterStats and DMT
