Caps Lock On Warning Beeper
« on: September 25, 2008, 03:55:08 PM »

Leaving the Caps Lock on and typing a few lines before looking at the screen and discovering IT IS ALL IN CAPITAL LETTERS IS A pain in the rear.

To solve that problem, (in XP or 2000) George Jopling has written a script that can be installed that, when turned on, causes the mobo speaker to beep every five seconds.

I downloaded it and dragged the icon to the Quickstart bar so that when in Word I can click it and it puts an ‘indicator’ at the top of the screen to show if Caps lock is On or Off. To turn off the indicator just click on the white button to the right.

Thanks to George it is available from:

http://www.georgejopling.co.uk/capslock/capslock.html

Click on the Zip icon (under Windows Installer) to download caps_lock_setup.zip.

It does not replace the Toggle Key Beep. Hope it is of use .

Thanks, that looks very useful Dave. It will prove its worth if it stops me entering passwords in upper case and not realising it!

I/we did try that some time ago if you remember, and even with talking to George and with a slight modification I seem to remember that there was still possibly a "slight" problem, although nothing major.

Hopefully this is then the newer latest release.
I will look to see if I still have my notes on what the problem was.

Dave which version do you have?

edit.

Sorry for any confusion, however I did say it was "some time ago" well it was. "27 Feb 2007"
But the modification was completed successfully as you can read here, if you want.

However my last comment on the mater was:

George,

Once again you have surpassed yourself with a really useful tool.

I have tried the latest version and it works fantastic especially with the windows installer incorporated.

Thanks again.

To be honest, I think it was the bleeping that put me of eventually.

Just as an aside, if that happens in MS Word, there is a handy change case utility on the Format menu. :)

OF,
I have the v1.1.0, it was when he removed the taskbar button which you suggested was not necessary.
He hasn't altered anything else since, as it works fine now.
