Basic tools required to enable video editing.

First of all I would suggest the following programs:

1. VLC Media Player.... An alternative to WMP etc (To play back any movie without the problem of having the correct/incorrect Codec for WMP)
... Get your free DL from here:

2. DVD Shrink 3.x.... (To copy the DVD onto the HDD, remove any protection and any foreign languages they do not want)
... A tutorial can be found here:
... Get your free DL from here:

3. AutoGordianKnot (aka AutoGK).... (To convert a DVD into a .avi file, which make it easier for editing).
... A tutorial can be found here:
... Get your free DL from here:

4. ? Suitable program to enable modifying the .avi movie. (as yet to be identified)
... If one comes along I will post  it.

5. Nero or ConvertXtoDVD.... (To convert the finished .avi into DVD format and burn to disc)
... A tutorial can be found here:
... NOT FREE

Although I had posted a Download Link, I had not followed it all the way through.

Thanks to Dave.m
I have now changed the link to a new one. (More user friendly)

OF,
The DVD Shrink link that you have posted takes you to the DVD Shrink page with several download buttons but each one then takes you to a registration page. When completed you are then taken to a page to chose which program you are paying for.

The free v.3.2.0.15 can be downloaded from:

There is a piece of software that will do this for free if you would to add it OF, I use it for a range of file formats:-

Jid.
Thanks for that.

As you will appreciate there are always more than one way and also various programs to do things with, so I mainly only list programs that I use or have used.
But your link no-doubt will also help someone in the future.
