New Order for FTTP
« on: January 15, 2026, 12:47:56 PM »

This is NOT for me. My daughter want her own FTTP in her own bedroom. But I told her that's NOT possible to do it! There is no spare ports left say the checker. She saying she willing paying her own bill for FTTP and want to join Plusnet FTTP 160/30. I told her not to bother just use my FTTP from wireless.

Have anyone ordered 2 x FTTP in the same house?

I didn't say it for me. It's one FTTP for her own. But I told her no.

Told her she can order SoGEA 80/20 from Plusnet as it available to order but she best to wait until my G.fast cease on the line first as her room got master socket in her own bedroom but I don't know if this master socket are Openreach or Telewest one.

Sounds completely pointless and a waste of money to me, and if it's your house you have every right to just say no.
The 'no spare ports' bit is, I believe, because you have a single port ONT and that port is in use.

Was I waiting for this one?! ;) ;)
Those gamers, would think she would be happy with a 1000 service.
She's unlikely to see anymore performance as you are already "blowing the doors off!" with what you have. Until a symmetrical comes your way I would tell he to wait or move out! Depending on the age that is! ;) ;)

Paying anything for a second connection in a house occupying 2 people is an insane waste of money.
Getting someone to pull a network cable or using the flat ones is a far far better spend of money, hell I would even try Powerline over that huge waste of money.

Agree, just run a length of Cat5 to where required as having two connections is madness.

Well... I have two connections in a house with two people.

HOWEVER, my use case is very, very different. Wife and I are full time remote workers, having reliable internet that works is pretty important. But, I'm just highlighting the difference. We make our money through having good connectivity, not everyone does. Plus @ £85 a month, having 2 complete different networks of connectivity is worth it.

This might be caused by you asking her to stop using her Xbox so you can run speedtests, she might not be bothered if you stop doing that.
