Goodness me! £86 a month - no thanks VM. Back to waiting for Openreach Poles in my area (I believe Williowfield Woodside will start work in early January 2026)

You be out of contract and can move to another ISP again.

Worry about it then, not right now.  For 2 years you get gigabit broadband on a tech thats more stable than DSL.

The same applies to any other ISP really, you will never know what happens in a couple of years time, market conditions change.

The work wasn't cancelled until forever. We were, again, told it had been cancelled, though this time poles not being removed, when there was actually a meeting between Openreach and community/local representatives that we weren't told about and, surprisingly given the earlier email and victory, Max wasn't either it seems.

The meeting was apparently fine. Openreach apparently assuaged the locals' concerns and the build has apparently been scheduled to proceed using the poles as soon as is practical.

Yes, 'apparently' was used a lot there. For obvious reasons. Hopefully it'll all go smoothly so that we don't see any more uninformed, fatalist fiction at the slightest hint of issues.

Given the OP has a history of asking people why they need anything faster than whatever he has at the time, both when it was regular FTTC and now it's G.fast, I look forward to them ordering an excessively fast service way beyond their pretty light requirements to push that number people shouldn't have anything faster than higher in turn.  :)

I do believe Openreach will go ahead with the poles installing start after xmas for all the rest of Woodside, cos I heard from my neighbour the meeting went well. No objects now. But I didn't attend the meeting because there is no letter, no warning poles from Openreach/council planning.

I know I can see some poster on lamp-post with ref number but never find anything from the local council.

Anyway I look forward to xmas now (not the depression mood) and after xmas they might come to install poles in my area TF7 5NT hopefully to shut me up and order FTTP 900/115. But I more likely to cease G.fast and keep one FTTC active for couple more months until FTTP settle down.

And my polite to ask you XGS_Is_On - when is poles coming to TF7 5NT? As you might know it more than I do. I can see there is one job left now at Park Lane Install approx. 7m duct in footway this week.

Max there is a 14 day cooling off period, that lets you see how well its performing, if you see congestion, then cancel within the 14 days with no penalty.

Great news!  :) Got email from Openreach as my property to get FTTP by end of January 2026

Hi ******,

Thanks for your email and the good news is that we now have the agreement to continue with the installation of the poles.

We will now be proceeding with the works within the next few weeks, and we are hoping that Fibre will be available by the end of January 2026 (hopefully sooner). We do always have to advise though our plans and the dates are subject to change.

I would advise filling in your details below, we can drop you an email when this is available:

https://www.openreach.com/fibre-checker

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Kind Regards,

Is that true?  :o

Full Fibre run by Zen is no speed profile (Standard, Stable, Super Stable) and no DLM and do have FTTP 1800/220

Full Fibre run by BT Wholesale is 3 speed profile (Standard, Stable, Super Stable) and do have DLM and only have FTTP 1000/110

No need, I'm not a liar. And the date was in an email.

I didn't say you are liar.

You are right!
mine say 1600/115 but it saying We’ll be building in this area in the next year but it already building right now. Engineer who put new pole up and told me my full fibre will go live in 2 weeks from today (XMAS DAY)

But, Openreach selling 1600/115 to EE, Vodafone, Freeola and Zen

But BTWholesale selling 900/105 to any ISPs Plusnet, BT, Aquiss, Cerberus and AAISP

What are you talking about?
Openreach will sell to any ISP that wants 1600 really as far as I know.

I would like to say thanks to two engineers as I was with them all day in this horrible weather. Show me all the processing of fibre optic cable fed the overhead pole, connected to 3 poles and then show me underground the fibre aggregation nodes in the hidden pathway approx 400m away from my end pole. I got video and some photo taken as they say this is fine but no photo allow in the fibre aggregation nodes due to Openreach strictly policy. More work to do tomorrow in final stage. Live expecting in 5th January 2026 rather than April 2026.
