You'll need to cease your G.Fast connection via your ISP, not via the fibre installer.

You can ask for the ONT to be put in a certain place but whether they'll do it depends on the difficulty as I imagine the default position will be near your current master socket.

Your choice but could always read one of the hundreds of threads on this on here, ThinkBroadbrand, ISPReview, ISPs' own forums and in between reading them spend the one life you have on more fulfilling things. I'm not going to answer the questions as many others already have and I can't condone anyone else taking their time to. This isn't an exotic, unique and new situation. It's an overhead fibre install. Nothing more, nothing less and the existing copper route is, as with most other installs like this, irrelevant.

There is no way to put FTTP nearer the master socket because that was the front garden of the house as the pole (FTTP) was actually at the back garden as I think the engineer will going to put ONT in the back pc room.

That's fair enough but whether they'll go into your loft will depend on if access is straightforward and safe. I think they expect a loft ladder and for the area they need to access to be boarded.

My loft doesn't have any fully boarded. Think I can rule out the loft now.  The engineer probably will drill the wall at the back garden but I have to ask housing landlord permission first because of tenancy agreement rules.

The provision of services is normally allowed in tenant agreements. It’s 10 days until your appointment, can you not rest from worrying about this

Could always route an ethernet cable from the ONT to wherever the router will be. Assuming its feasible.

Are cat5e ethernet cable are fine for FTTP 900/115 up to 30m away from ont to the router?

At the moment these are fine from openreach gfast modem to router with cat5e 30m to the pc room from downstair Master Socket area

Thanks that's all I need to know from now on.  Roll on until January 5th installation day.  Looking forward to it.  I probably will keep my current G.fast until at least February then cease it because the billing run from January 2nd to February 1st. So will put it down to February 1st for the G.fast cease last day. 

Don't get me wrong my current G.fast was stable for longtime. Never have any DLM on it with Unchained ISP and Cerberus ISP.

Saw a map of the Openreach infrastructure on this estate. Was indeed mostly direct in ground. The drops and most of the feeder routes.

The Virgin Media stuff seems a pretty standard build. Optical node covers about 500 premises, take up is pretty high, average use is pretty, well, average. The network is running well within limits both capacity and RF-wise.

Obviously as FTTP goes live and gets marketed VM will lose some customers. They might win some back if they release the new product they've tested in a couple of areas, and when they are done with nearby cities they'll build the XGSPON network overlay.

The Openreach hardware in Wellington should be pretty simple to upgrade to XGSPON. Openreach haven't installed any OLTs that couldn't do both in a while.

Wellington Exchange have their own Zen Internet / IDNet / Vodafone / EE for Openreach 1600/115 in some area (My mate can get 1600/115 in St.Georges but my area in Woodside we can't get 1600/115 as all of them say NO - only 1000/115 from BTw network) but likewise I am more than happy to have 1000/115 anyway.

As for VM in my area - VM won't be bothered to upgrade full fibre via XGSPON. Still on old cable HFC.
