Email Hositng
« on: September 18, 2025, 08:51:03 PM »

Hi Folks.
Well, John has been looking after me email for the last three years, but unfortunately all good things come to pass.
So, could any point me in the right direction for an easy-to-follow method for migration of my domain/email account.
And answer a few questions.
The first being,
will all my old emails be lost?!
As a Thunderbird user, do I need to back things up somehow?
Has anyone had any bad experiences with a transfer and new hosts?

Have already seen a list of Hosts to investigate in another post but any recommendations, apart from Google and Yahoo, will be liked.

Thanks
Dwight.

I use Vision Internet for my domains and hosting.

https://visn.co.uk/move gives details of moving a domain to them. Whenever I've needed tech support they have been very helpful and efficient.

How to deal with your existing email depends on whether you use IMAP or POP3; the former stays on the server, the latter downloads to your device, so would still be there once you make the change.

I have just moved my email and hosting from plusnet to Mythic beasts and it was dead easy, up and working within a matter of minutes.
